Danforth, as â€Å"the Deputy Governor of the Province† of Massachusetts is an extremely powerful and influential man, a representative of the King of England. He represents the combined authority of church and state in this theocratic society of the day. We do not meet Danforth until the start of Act 3, although Arthur Miller mentions him briefly at the beginning of Act 2 not by name but by his office. Danforth is not one of the main characters in the play but he is certainly the most controversial. Arthur Miller makes us aware of how this man is a paradox, but I shall return to this shortly. In the first two Acts of this play, set in Salem 1692, Arthur Miller introduces us to the main characters and the events that lead to this witch- hunt. He describes the people of Salem as a â€Å"sect of fanatics whose creed forbade anything resembling a theatre or vain enjoyment† and a â€Å"holiday from work meant that they must concentrate even more upon prayer.† Their outlook and self enforced discipline did help them to survive a life, which I can only imagine as very harsh, as some of the first settlers in America. These people lived by very strict rules and regulations, and were not allowed to express their feelings physically or verbally. The events that lead to the witch- hunt were, in my view, the bubble bursting- such repression found an outlet! Arthur Miller states â€Å"the witch- hunt was not mere repression† but a â€Å"long overdue opportunity for everyone to express publicly his guilt and sins under the accusations against victims. It suddenly became possible to speak of matters which were forbidden in an ordinary way.† Also â€Å"hatred of neighbours would now be openly expressed, and vengeance taken.† â€Å"Old scores would be settled,† and all this under the umbrella of morality and self righteousness. Frankenstein Movie Version vs. Mary Shelley’s Novel Essay

In 1957 British Production Company Hammer Films launched their own series of adaptations of Frankenstein with the first film entitled â€Å"The Curse of Frankenstein†. The Frankenstein’s myth was revived once again. This time it was more different from the Universal Studios own version. The prominent element in the Universal Series was the monster but Hammer chose the person of Victor Frankenstein as focal point and subject of the story. The Curse of Frankenstein is set around 1880. Baron Victor Frankenstein and his new teacher Paul Krempe became close companions. They started their experiments and their first success was the reanimation of a puppy. After several years they want to experiment it on humans. They stole the body of a hanged highwayman from the gallows. Victor bought body parts like eyes, hands and several other parts, which they stitch together. Finally, the only thing needed to complete his creation is a brain, â€Å"the mind of a genius†. Victor killed his old mentor Professor Bernstein to place its brain in his creation. Victor Frankenstein was entirely different from the character in Shelley’s novel. He was not as bad as the film portrays. He doesn’t have to kill anyone to achieve his goal. The only close similarity to the original story is the monster with its ugly and horrible appearance. The monster also from the moment it wakes was found to be very aggressive and evil. It kills a blind man and a young girl unlike in the original where it is not even capable to express feelings and emotions. Undocumented Immigration Is It Bad For The United States

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRATION IS IT BAD FOR THE UNITED STATES ECONOMY? Most American citizens either think or agree that immigrants are stealing their jobs, and ruining the economy; are immigrants causing Americas economy to flounder or are they holding it a float and in need of some reform and change to the immigration system. We may just need to adjust how immigration is handled to reduce that number of undocumented immigrants to reduce the unknown. With the recent election giving us Donald trump as our new president of the united states the country is a state of change and not necessarily for the better. These jobs pay an average of $27 an hour, but American workers don’t want them—they are hard, unpleasant, and not steady.† (Schwartz). Also, are citizens complaining about the lack of jobs willing to go out and get the education needed to achieve them. Many immigrants are working full time and paying to go to school to claim a small piece of that American dream to do better for their families. If we could reform the immigration laws we could push the country into a better direction, removing the immigrants is not the answer â€Å"Immigration reform would improve economic growth. This expansion would have a powerful effect on easing our massive fiscal challenges. Decreasing the federal deficit in 20 years instead of increasing it is a huge benefit to the country and possibly a solution it desperately needs.
